OLYMPICS
Joan Smith, daughter of Anna (Olmstead) & Richard Smith of Honeoye Falls, NY was a participant in the Women’s Biathion in both the 1992–Albertville, France and 1994–Lillehammer, Norway winter games.
BASEBALL
Nate Olmstead, b. 24 Mar 1972. Played for the Butte (MT) Copper Kings 1994; Cedar Rapids (IA) Kernels 1995.
Walter Olmstead, b. 5 Dec 1980. Played for the Billings (MT) Mustangs 2002 & 2003; Dayton (OH) Dragons, 2004; and Sarasota (FL) Reds, 2005.
Alan Ray “Al” Olmsted, b. 18 Sep 1957 in Saint Louis, MO. Played for the Saint Louis Cardinals, 12 Sept – 3 Oct 1980.
Frederic William “Red” Olmstead, b. 3 Jul 1881, Grand Rapids, MI; d. 22 Oct 1936, Muskogee, OK. Played 2 Jul 1908 – 4 Sep 1911.
Henry Theodore “Hank” Olmsted, b. 12 Jan 1879, Sac Bay, MI; d. 6 Jan. 1969, Bradenton, FL. Played for Notre Dame and Valparaiso universities.
Michael Olmstead, b. 2 May 1987. Played: Kingsport (TN) Mets and Brooklyn (?) Cyclones

HOCKEY
Maurice Albert “Bert” Olmstead was born in Sceptre, Saskatchewan in 1926. As a boy he was involved in hockey, baseball & curling. In hockey he turned pro in 1946 in Kansas City. He played in the National Hockey League for 13 years (1949-1962) and he played on five Stanley Cup winning teams, four with the Montreal Canadians and one with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
In the 1955-56 season, Bert set an NHL record with 56 assists and also equaled an NHL record with an 8-point game, a record that wasn’t eclipsed until 1976. Most of all he was known for his leadership qualities, for getting the most out of his teammates and inspiring those around him to play better.
Bert was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto in 1985 and the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in 1998. [A photo of Bert can be found on the Jabez Olmsted website.]
FOOTBALL
Thomas Olmsted, a punter for the Miami Dolphins, wearing number 6 in 2006, as his first year as a pro player. He played in college at Troy.
