Disconnected Olmste(a)ds

How else to name this page?
In gathering recordsfrom many different sources I have accumulated thousands of extraneous records that have yet to be connected to one of the primary or immigrant lines. These can be put into three categories.
- Single individuals, couples, or a nuclear families (husband, wife, children) that cannot be tied across multiple generations. The majority of these are in the twentieth century. For instance, I have over a thousand identified from the California birth, death, marriage, and divorce indexes. Lesser numbers, proportiant to the population, developed from similar indexes in other states. Another source, but not yet tackled, would be to identify everyone found in available Internet ”telephone book” listings.
- Short family lines — three or four generations. Often found in published genealogies or developed from correspondence with persons who do not even know their grandparents.
- Longer family lines — five to ten generations. Often these have only one or two generations that carry our family surname while succeeding generations are identified with other surnames. The term often used is “daughtered out” indicating that the male lines did not continue. Unlike many genealogical efforts, I attempt to follow all lines to the present as I believe it is important to records ALL descendants, not just those with the family name.
This set of linked charts will attempt to provide those in categories 2 and 3. What I will include here is the first person in those family trees. As persons are identified by linking to their parent they will be removed from this listing. Not included are those listed on the Immigrant page.
The listing may include the person’s name, birth date and state, death date and state, and a short note which often includes the spouses name and where the individual or couple lived (res). When more than three generations are in my file it is noted.
The files are arranged by the Olmste(a)ds first name. Many of the letters have been broken up to keep the tables to a reasonable length. Click on the appropriate link below to jump to the appropriate page. Currently there are none starting with the letters Q, U, X, or Y.
